| About Tropical Tales |
Tropical Tales is a monthly entertainment print publication distributed on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. Drawing on the rich treasures of the past found in these regions, each month the feature article engages the reader with a tale of the tropics based on historical events and embellished with local folklore and legend, taking the reader on a brief adventure from the ordinary.
Supporting content includes a mixture of humor, interesting factoids from the world of nature and human nature, trivia with a bent for the peculiar, the area’s only regionally dedicated classified ads, local environmental education as well as coverage of local events, allowing the publication to give something back to the community.
This free, advertiser-driven publication is distributed to local and surrounding hotels, restaurants, bars, retailers, and professional service waiting rooms along the coast from Limón to near the Panamanian border. It has rapidly become extremely popular in the area, acting as both entertainment and event guide for incoming tourists, a print media network for local events & advertisers and a voice for positive community activities. Tropical Tales is distributed freely to all incoming MEPE bus passengers in Limón for their entertainment and education while riding along the beautiful coast to Puerto Viejo. When they arrive, they have become a little richer in their knowledge of the area, it’s history, and the most important treasure of all – the people of our area.
A portion of our net proceeds is used to benefit two local community organizations: ATEC - Asociación Talamanqueña de Ecoturismo y Conservación (Talamancan Association of Ecotourism and Conservation) and to El Puente (The Bridge) – an organization which provides educational assistance, food, and microloans to the indigenous people of Costa Rica.
